Prague Pictures

We started the day with a nice breakfast at the hostel. We've been lucky. Quite a few of the hostels we've been staying provided breakfast. European breakfasts consists usually of a few kinds of breads, cheese, and cold cuts. They also have a few different kinds of homemade jams. They also have 2 or 3 different kinds of cereals like granola, corn flakes, etc, and beverages like juice, coffee or tea.
We joined a "free" tour after breakfast and walked around the city for about 2 hours. Our guide was a native Czech whose family migrated to Australia when she was small. She was very knowledgeable on the history of the Czech Republic and the important buildings around the city. After the tour, it's up to the individual tourist to tip whatever they think the tour is worth.
I spent the rest of the day going back to some of the sites we visited but did not have time to either take pictures or have a closer look. Prague is probably one of the most picturesque cities in the world. In one and a half days, I have taken 228 pictures. Good thing they have memory cards nowadays. It'd have cost me a fortune if we are still using film.

The Old Town Square. On the left is the Clock Tower with the astronomical clock. The building with the twin steeples is the Tyn Church.

The Cathedral at Prague Castle.

The entrance to Prague Castle. This is where the President's Office is and the ancient Bohemian Crown Jewels are housed. Prague Castle is the biggest castle complex in the world.

A restaurant next to the castle grounds with cobblestone steps leading down to the city.

One of the many statues on Charles Bridge.

A distant view of Prague Castle and Charles Bridge.

A night view of the Castle and Bridge from the same vicinity.

There was a ceremonial parade at the castle this afternoon.

It was an overcast day and this gives a different view of the buildings along the river from yesterday's.

One of Prague's well-known concert halls. Many churches around the city offer concerts in the late afternoon or early evening and invite tourists to attend. Some have admission fees but most ask only for donations to the church.

  2. Thanks, Jose. Yes indeed, I am enjoying the trip. Every 2 or 3 days it's a new city. It's been a month since we started. There are more interesting places to go in the next month. Hope you and Veronica and the dogs are doing well.
