Going South

We had a nice 2-day R&L (Rest and Laundry) in Hamburg. It gives Ralph some time to catch up with his family and gave our bodies a rest. Although we are having a lot of fun seeing different places, we do work for it. Every other day when we move from one city to another, we carry our 30 to 40-pound backpacks and walk about a mile to and from the hostel to the train station. On the days when we are not moving, we are seeing the sights and that means walking anywhere from 8 to 10 hours a day. We cover a city in 1 day that most people will take up to 3 days, usually on foot.
Tomorrow morning we are heading south to Prague, then Vienna, Budapest, etc. We may take a side trip to Bratislava or even Krakow. It depends on how we feel and what works. This will be quite a change from Scandinavia, where everything is clean and orderly and EXPENSIVE! Some of these former Eastern Bloc countries are still struggling to get out of the communist system. Some of them were at war as recently as in the 90s'. It will be interesting to see how they have developed. More than that, I am interested in seeing the different culture, language, and how people live in such a small region. How over the centuries these countries have been influenced by their conquerors in terms of their architecture, culture and religion. I hope to share some interesting pictures with you. Again, if you have any comments, questions or request, please let me know.
