Loch Lomond is the largest lake in Britain. It is about an hour's drive from Edinburgh and 20 miles from Glasgow. So it's close to two of the most populated cities in Scotland. It gets very crowded in the summer with tourists and Glasgow residents coming here to enjoy the lake.
We started out from Edinburgh in the morning and stopped at a cafe near Loch Lomond for some coffee before heading to one of the villages called Luss on the western shore. At this time of the year it's pretty quiet so it was nice to be able to appreciate the beauty of the area. Some of the houses in the village have been around for hundreds of years. You can hike, bike, kayak or just take a cruise on the lake. There are many hotels, hostels and campsites around the lake.
