Beanach Liobh na h'Alba

If you are wondering if all these travels have gotten to my head, the answer is no.  The title of this post may sound gibberish but it means Good-Bye in Scottish Gaelic.  Literally, it means "Give Blessing to Scotland."  Scottish Gaelic (pronounced Garlic, without rolling the r) and Irish Gaelic (pronounced Gay -lic) are slightly different.  They can understand each other but the words are pronounced differently.  Many islanders from the Hebrides and some from the Scottish Highlands speak Gaelic.  Signs around Scotland have both English and Gaelic.  There is a movement towards restoring the language.
However, this post is not about Gaelic.  It's about 3 weeks of wonderful travel in beautiful Scotland.  I want to end it with colors - of flowers that I come across everyday and everywhere I go.
Where I live in Arizona, everything is overwhelmingly earth-brown, because of the desert geography of the state.  The earth-tone dominates the landscape.  Scotland is just the opposite.  Everywhere it's green, very green - the hills, farms, trees, golf courses, etc.  Sprinkled among all this green are the colorful flowers.
Yellow daffodils are everywhere, even alongside the highways.  Tulips are in every garden; so are polyanthus.  In the wild you see gorse, with their jagged  leaves and bright yellow flowers.  Rhododendrons with their color flowers are taking over the native plants.  In the summer, the wild heather will bloom with their purple color.  And on and on.
And it is with this colorful memory of Scotland that I am leaving, after 3 weeks of wonderful travel and meeting some of the nicest people in the world.  Hopefully, I will be back soon.
My next stop is Belfast in Northern Ireland, then to Londonderry, Galway and finally back to Dublin, where I will fly back on May 28th.
